Anyone encountered those weird human looking creatures that live inside Facebook and updates their statuses just to get attention? If you got goosebumps, then you’re one of them. Caught you!
Now anyone who spend more than 20 hours a day on social media think they’re cool. Allow me to correct that fact for you: You’re not cool, you actually look more like a weirdo. A friend told me that people are adapting to today’s society norms. Though the thing is, who has made it the norm to stay on these social networks and toggle their minds with mostly useless information that mean nothing to them? I mean, why do I have to know that Kim Kardashian has a big behind? It’s not any of my concern! I’d rather worry about my own. And why do I have to be bombarded with numerous car advertisements just because I clicked the Like button for Mercedes Benz?
The thing with social media is that they think we are shallow. And the thing with us is that we let them think we are shallow. But I am not shallow, there’s more to me than that one time when I played those videos of people dancing to the Harlem Shake.
Of course, it’s okay to be on them, it’s okay to use them, but I just don’t think it’s okay to be addicted to them to the point where one cannot live without them. They sometimes carry interesting stuff that’s worth a read. I like to go on to this group on Facebook called “Fujairah Smalls - for selling and buying used goods privately†and see what’s on sale. I bought a couple of stuff from there too.
On another note - have you seen the sky lately?
No you can’t see the sky, because the bloody fog after the sandstorm remained in the air for almost a week, leaving everyone with minimum eyesight, risking their lives when driving by guessing which road is the actual road to take as hallucinations occur to the weary. If you blink, you’d be lost in an instant. Imagine that.
This was how it looked like -
Before:
After:
It was super creepy, but in a way that no one wanted to show how creepy it was, as if the weather is orange every other day or something.
On that week everyone I know, including myself got sick with the flu. The air was so still that the viruses decided to stay in its place, invite all its friends and have a picnic. I’m still suffering from post flu effects. You don’t get surprised when everyone is coughing at the same time, almost sounds like a melody. And then everyone starts talking about the crappy weather.
Anyhow, I hope everyone’s doing well - If you’re interested in music (who isn’t, right?), there’s this pretty cool band that is going to play on the Friday and Saturday the 8th - 9th of May in front of Magic Flakes Cafe, they’re locally based so it’s pretty exciting to have a band playing in Fujairah outdoors! Pin the dates on your calendars, and will see you there! If anyone doesn’t know the location of Magic Flakes, they have a number you can call and get directions, it’s 050-188-3200.
Let’s not forget - stay safe, eat well, sleep enough, work hard, and have an exceptionally good time.
Until next time, Fajrawis,
Sindiya, The Sign.
