Ever feel like at some point in your life you face a rough patch and because you need the care and support you look around you and find no one there? That everyone is suddenly out of reach, and it wasn’t the same as before, maybe they love you less, maybe they just have other stuff to do.
It’s alright though, there’s a trick to it, and I’m about to let you in on it.
It’s all about not needing anyone. Of course, as human beings we feel the need to have people around us, but that does not necessarily make us whole. The trick is to be completely and wholeheartedly comfortable with yourself alone, this way you wouldn’t need to ask other people to fill that care spot inside of you. Because you can do it yourself. It takes a lot of guts to do this, though once you realize it, it truly does set you free.
It feels as if Ramadan always catches us by surprise. We’re almost never ready for it to come, but when it comes, we’re almost never ready to let it go.
I really found myself during Ramadan, and this is no cliche. You just feel more at peace with yourself, thus giving you space to think about stuff. I feel like this holy month makes me more endured, teaches me to be honest with myself before anything else, and to be in content, that nothing really bothers me anymore. You learn to appreciate the good things in life, and be grateful for what you have - even if it is just a tissue box. You have no idea how a tissue box makes life so much better. Like when you’re eating a keema paratha in your car for instance - imagine having that and then half way through you suddenly realize you have no tissues in your car? Disaster.
My Dad taught me many things about life, and one of them is to simply appreciate what you have, because many don’t have it. He also taught me that even if you have many people around you, only a few will truly love you and want to see you happy. The rest of the people are like shadows - they walk with you when you shine and disappear when you need them most.
Here’s Dad and I. God bless him. <3
The gist of the story goes like this: Let us use this month to make ourselves better, to become bigger people with bigger minds, and to worry about your own faults first before looking at others. And most importantly, appreciate the box of tissues.
To those traveling for the summer, have a great time. And to those staying in Fujairah, have an even greater time - make sure you visit Dibba’s beautiful waterside. :)
Need me you know where to find me - @Sindiya23 - I’ll probably be having Harees at Magic Flakes Cafe - it’s for free if anyone would like a bite!
Until Next Time, Fajrawis,
Sindiya, The Sign.
